About Us

Star of David Originally called the Centreville Area Jewish Community (CAJC), the organization began in the summer of 1994 when two Jewish families placed an ad in a local newspaper seeking other Jewish families to share holidays and traditions. A few weeks and over 40 phone calls later, the first organizational meeting and service took place and the CAJC was born. In January 1995, an organizing body was formed and a dues paying membership base was established.

The excitement grew, word spread, and a Jewish presence in the local community began to solidify. The group subsequently evolved into its present format, and in 1998 Yad Shalom emerged as the conservative alternative for Western Fairfax County and Prince William County. In 2000, the congregation joyfully acquired its Torah from Congregation Anshai Sfard in Lynn, Massachusetts.

Today, Yad Shalom stands tall as the voice of tradition in its practice and services.
